Organism.
-Actively motile n 4 ant n 1 post flagella.
-Types
T vaginalis-in vagina
T hominis -in anal canal n rectum
T buccalis- mouth
-In men : urethra n prostate

Transmission
1) sexual contact.
2) infected material
3) inadequate hygiene
C/F
1) Discharge - profuse thin greenish n frothy- diagnostic
2) Tender vaginal wall
3) Strawberry vagina- punctate spots on vaginal vault n portio vaginalis.
4) urinary symptms: dysuria n low grade urethritis.
5) abdominal pain low backache n dyspareunia.
DIAGNOSIS
1) Hanging drop preparation.
Temp shud be 35 deg.
2) Culture in Kupferberg's or Feinberg Whittington med.
3) PCR n antigen testing.
Rx
METRONIDAZOLE-
200 mg tab tds 4 1wk after meal for both parteners n use condom during therapy.
OR 2 g for 1 day at nt.
Other: tinidazole secnidazole. Ornidazole.
- Recurrent inf. :- tinidazole 500mg qid n vaginal pessary 500mg bd 4 14 days.
- Breast feeding Contraindicated during
