Tubal patency test


The testing of tubal patency is done in preovulatory phase of menstrual cycle.
Hysterosalpingography:visualizn of the uterine cavity &fallopian tube carrid out by screening wth use of image intensifer in X ray room using Foley catheter.
Usually done on 10th dayof cycle.
Radioopaque dye is injected thrh
a cannula in aseptic condition into uterine cavity.If tubes r patent the medium wl spill out of the abd ostia & smear adjcnt bowel.
1)Hydrosalpinx show large confind
mass of dye without spilling.
2)If either tube tube is blcked the site wl be indicated.
3)Bilat cornual block wth extravasation of dye is highly s/o tubercular salpingitis.
ADVATGE:Pemnent record.
Shows site of tubal blockage.
COMPLI:Pelvic infn,pain& collapse
Allergic reaction.
B)LAPROSCOPIC CHROMOTUBATION
Inj of methylene blue indicates infertility or tubal blockage.
It is indicated prior to tubal microsurgry
